Lvshuitang Raw Pu-erh Tea — 2025 Spring "Hidden King" of Lincang
Deep in the primeval forest of Mengku at 2,100 meters, hidden behind steep mountain roads that only pickup trucks can navigate, there is a tea that Lincang insiders call the "Hidden King." Lvshuitang (绿水塘) — "Green Water Pond" — earned its name from the emerald pools of pristine water that surround its ancient tea gardens. Discovered commercially barely a decade ago, it won Gold Prize at the 2016 Yunnan Tea Competition. Tea masters declared: "Even Bingdao must yield to its tender fragrance." Only about 200 ancient trees remain. Annual production is measured in hundreds of kilograms, not tons.
Lvshuitang belongs to the Xiamolie (下磨烈) area under Dongguo Village — part of the Mengku Eighteen Villages. At approximately 2,100 meters, it is one of Lincang's highest tea gardens. The approximately 300-year-old trees grow surrounded by pristine forest, absorbing the cool mountain air and mineral-rich soil. Processing follows the traditional Lincang method: dawn hand-picked, withered, iron-wok hand-fixed, hand-rolled, sun-dried, and stone-pressed — all designed to lock in the high-altitude fragrance and sweetness. The result is a tea that combines Bingdao's signature rock-sugar sweetness with a wilder, more powerful mountain energy — a profile that bridges the gap between Lincang's most elegant tea and its most untamed.
Lvshuitang Sheng Pu-erh Tasting Notes
| Attribute | Description |
|---|---|
| Dry Leaf | Plump, substantial strands with dense downy buds. Dark green glossy with an oily sheen. Clean, sweet mountain forest aroma. |
| Liquor | Golden bright and remarkably oily — coats the glass with a thick film. Intense luster signals the rich inner substances of high-altitude old trees. |
| Aroma | Rich orchid fragrance base with distinctive rock-sugar sweetness and a trace of pristine forest moss — the scent of untouched high-altitude wilderness. Cup-bottom fragrance is lasting and complex. |
| Taste | Sweet entry with Bingdao's signature rock-sugar character and cooling charm. Bitterness is remarkably low. The sweetness is pure and direct, supported by a full, rich body that builds across infusions. |
| Mouthfeel | Thick and silky — extremely full with rich inner substance. The viscosity is pronounced, the texture luxurious. This is mountain energy expressed as physical presence. |
| Finish | Swift, powerful huigan. Salivation is intense and sustained. Throat feeling is deep and comfortable — a clean, cooling sweetness that persists long after drinking. |
| Longevity | 15-20 infusions — the rich inner substances sustain an extended session. Tail water is clear-sweet, a final expression of the pristine forest terroir. |

FAQ
Why is it called "Green Water Pond"?
Named after the pristine emerald-green pools of water that surround the ancient tea gardens at 1,800-2,200m in the primeval forest. The algae-filled pools are a striking feature of the landscape.
Why is it Lincang's most mysterious pu-erh tea?
Extremely remote — deep in virgin forest, barely accessible. Only ~200 ancient trees remain. Many tea merchants have never seen the actual gardens. Steep mountain roads accessible only by pickup truck have protected it from commercialization.
How is it different from Bingdao?
Both have rock-sugar sweetness, but Lvshuitang carries stronger primeval forest mountain energy — faster, more direct huigan, wilder character. It's Bingdao's sweetness with a wilder soul.
